HOLIDAY HOOP-LA IN RIVERVIEW
Celebrate the spirit of the season and help a worthy cause at the annual Holiday Hoop-La in Riverview, slated for Nov. 5-7. The three-day event, sponsored by the Shops at Riverview, will feature food, fun, fabulous giveaways, special events and special savings at all participating merchants in the Riverview area.
A percentage of all proceeds will benefit the MCR Foundation for the Prevention of Eating Disorders, founded in 2006 after the loss of Mary Cameron Robinson (Cammy) to complications stemming from eating disorders. The MCR Foundation is a comprehensive non-profit organization, serving the Greater Chattanooga Tri-State area, providing resources and education concerning prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of individuals and families affected by eating disorders, focusing on healing the mind, body and spirit in a holistic approach.
Festivities will begin on Thursday night, Nov. 5, with extended hours for all merchants from 6-9 PM. Holiday Preview Parties with food and refreshments will abound in each shop, as well as the opportunity to sign up for drawings at participating merchants for fabulous prizes and gifts, including a $500 gift certificate from Susanna‘s.
Special events on Thurs. night will include holiday photos with a “Sexy Santa” at the Clay Pot and free “Dirt from The Clay Pot” t-shirts to the first 50 customers, all in good, clean fun! The Clay Pot will, also, host their annual “Count the Cranberries Contest” for a $150 gift certificate.
Lula’s “Holiday A Go-Go” will be “going green” with Appletinis and a “disco-ball drawing” for 10-30% discounts. Reusable “green” bags will be given away, with purchase, to be used at Lula’s in January for their “Save a Bag and Save Some Green” event.
Charlotte’s Web will be celebrating with Champagne and Pearls, featuring Maximal Art Jewelry, and will be giving away a complementary strand of pearls to the first 50 customers.
Cynthia Howell Stationery & Gifts will host a “Letters to Santa” party, unveiling their new venture of in-store parties to be hosted throughout the season, as well as a chance to win gift certificates from $50-$100.
Encore Consignment Boutique will host a “Deck the Walls” party, unveiling their new vignettes of designer clothing and accessories on the walls, with an opportunity to win a $100 gift certificate.
Bellies & Babies will feature a trunk show by “Notably You,“ specializing in custom-designed gift items, while Affordable BOTOX of Chattanooga will offer $25 coupons for $10 to be used toward Latisse for Lashes, Botox or Juvederm, with a limit of 1 per customer.
Others participating in drawings for fabulous merchandise, gift certificates and discounts, galore, include Lambs & Ivy, The Grape Basket, Vine Street Bakery and Studio La Vie’. Weekend festivities will be sponsored, in part, by Riverside Wine & Spirits and The Beer Run.
Grab a girlfriend, shop ’till you drop, eat, drink and be merry at the Holiday Hoop-La in Riverview! Celebrate the season and help benefit the MCR Foundation for the Prevention of Eating Disorders!

Opinion: Focus on obesity obscures other eating disorders
"The current health care
debate, when it focuses on food at all, focuses on obesity. Two-thirds
of Americans are either overweight or obese. That is shocking, but in
the national panic about obesity, we run the risk of making things
worse."
